Established in 1997, BuildingSMART Singapore (formerly named IAI Singapore Chapter ) gathers today 18 organizations including professional institutions / Associations, government agencies, institutes of higher learning and IT solution providers.
Mission
- To develop an industry-wide framework for sharing of digital construction information throughout the whole life cycle of a building project, through the use of guidelines on interoperability.
- To provide a forum for members to work together on technical and promotional programs to advance the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI) standards for information sharing.
- To provide a channel for members to keep abreast with and contribute towards International practices spearheaded by IAI chapters worldwide.
- To develop and administer a certification process to effectuate the goals in above.
Activities
To achieve these goals, BuildingSMART Singapore works closely with the Construction Industry IT Standards Technical Committee to define and endorse IT standards for Singapore, but also with IT vendors, institutions of higher learning and government agencies to implement strategic IT systems developed based on the IT standards adopted.
IT activities carried out by BuildingSMART Singapore are organised into six work groups, Design Work Group , Procure Work Group, Measure Work Group , Build Work Group, Facilities Work Group and IFC Implementers Work Group.
