"It’s an opportunity for companies to showcase their application of buildingSMART open standards and solutions as it applies to current challenges of interoperability faced during collaborative project delivery or asset operations".

This year, the buildingSMART awards recognize the use of openBIM in industry projects in the categories design, construction, and operations and maintenance and research projects in the categories student and professional.   Three finalists are determined for each category by the jury and are invited to present their projects at the Summit.  An expert panel will determine the winning project after the presentations.

New this year is the category for professional research.  This category is for academic, industry or government professionals that have engaged in a research project that includes openBIM testing, development or conceptual theories.   The awards are presented at a gala dinner during where nominees and winners are enthusiastically celebrated as shown below for the 2018 awards.
