buildingSMART Canada

buildingSMART Canada (bSC) serves as the national authority on building information modeling (BIM), digital project delivery and asset lifecycle delivery standards. As a federally incorporated not-for-profit, bSC advocates for open, interoperable standards to drive digital transformation in Canada’s built asset industry. Leveraging deep connections within the Canadian AECOOM (architecture, engineering, construction, owners, operators, and managers) industries and the global buildingSMART community, bSC provides a platform to adopt and adapt international trends while addressing local challenges through structured innovation programs and collaborative stakeholder engagement.

As Canada’s sole BIM standards body, bSC offers access to a diverse network of experts, industry affiliates, and global openBIM standards. Its initiatives, such as the National Infrastructure Council, foster collaboration among municipalities and other stakeholders to share progress and build on collective successes. Acting as a bridge between government, industry, academia, and the private sector, bSC delivers innovative solutions that address critical digital infrastructure gaps while supporting the adoption of best practices across the built environment.
