Greece has been formally approved as a “Chapter-in-formation”
London, U.K. – January 17, 2025 — buildingSMART International (bSI) is pleased to announce that Greece has been formally approved as a "Chapter-in-formation". The latest Chapter to join the network will begin work to move to "Developing Chapter" status with a goal of expanding openBIM in Greece. The successful submission from the organising committee demonstrated a high degree of understanding of how openBIM can positively impact the market. Following the approval as a Chapter, Greece becomes the thirty-seventh Chapter at buildingSMART.
The establishment of a buildingSMART chapter in Greece is essential to advancing the country's digital transformation in the construction sector. There is a significant need to raise awareness of openBIM and to promote greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing around openBIM standards and services. Some of the goals for the new Chapter include:
- Driving innovation
- Improve industry practices
- Accelerate the adoption of openBIM methodologies
- Create networking events and thought leadership
Aidan Mercer, Marketing Director of bSI, commented, "We have been really impressed by the thoroughness and focus of the submission we received for Greece. The governance model, structures, and business plan impressed us, along with the leadership that will no doubt initiate important developments in Greece. We look forward to working closely with the latest Chapter in our network and consider this another milestone in the growth of openBIM".
Maya Tryfona, Chairwoman and Co-founder, and Anna Varakli, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder buildingSMART Greece commented, “As we work to shape the future of the built environment in Greece, we embrace the power of openBIM standards and services to promote meaningful collaboration and innovation. Being part of the buildingSMART International community allows us to not only drive progress but also create lasting, positive change. Our commitment to this industry comes from a deep belief that together, we can build a more sustainable and connected future for generations to come.”
