New Maritime Domain Launched
London, (September 14, 2023) – buildingSMART International is pleased to announce the "Maritime Domain" has been launched, advancing work done under the "Ports and Waterways" project.
The new Maritime Domain will combine stakeholders from around the world, including China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), Royal Haskoning DHV and Cardiff University, with more to follow, to advance efforts done during the IFC 4.3 Ports and Waterways shared schema elements project. With IFC 4.3 in the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) process for ISO, this timely announcement will ensure a dedicated working group will focus on developing projects to enhance standards and services for this new domain.
Richard Kelly, Operations Director, buildingSMART International, commented, "Adding the Maritime Domain is a big milestone as it confirms the commitment for the digitalisation of offshore assets, and moves into important areas including coastal protection and windfarm structures. bSI has excellent abilities to coordinate multiple organisations in program delivery as demonstrated on the recent IFC 4.3 creation success. I encourage any people interested to join the bSI community and the new Domain to contribute to the future work plans".
