The Information Delivery Specification (IDS) Final Standard has been issued to the Standards Committee for their review and feedback. The vote closes 30th May 2024.

The Information Delivery Specification (IDS) is a standard for defining information requirements in a way that is easily read by humans and interpreted by computers.
With this standard, you can specify what data must be included in the BIM dataset and validated if it is delivered. It is designed as a free, lightweight, standardised approach to delivery specification and subsequent checking.
Traditionally the information requirements are shared in ways that are not computer interpretable, such as spreadsheets or PDFs – and it is very difficult for the right people to access the data that is pertinent to them for a particular situation.
With IDS, users can demand and verify the use of properties (including quantities and attributes), materials, classifications, entity types, and object dependency (partOf). As of now, IDS does not have the capability to define the details of geometry.
