“Facility Management (FM) Handover – Equipment Maintenance” – Join our project to create an updated open international standard

London, U.K. – February 19, 2021  buildingSMART International is proceeding with its "Facility Management (FM) Handover – Equipment Maintenance” project and inviting participation by facility owners and industry domain experts. This project is an update to the 2009 Basic FM Handover MVD project due to market demand. Work done in the intervening period has been on national implementations of the previous specification.

This project incorporates lessons learned from the years of national use of the “2009 Basic FM Handover MVD”, which aims to return the specification to the essential requirement of delivering building equipment maintenance information. It will demonstrate the delivery of building information not only by those with design and handover responsibility, but also by consulting engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers. You can have your say and be involved in this exciting project.

Richard Kelly, Operations Director, buildingSMART International commented that “there has been real demand for creating national specifications that go beyond the original “Basic FM Handover MVD” project that was initiated in 2009. The need to update technical documentation in support of the implementation for IFC 4.3 and the subsequent need to standardize the international requirements for implementation by global software vendors has driven forward this international open standards project. We encourage broad engagement from all interested industry stakeholders and invite you to join our buildingSMART ”FM Handover – Equipment Maintenance” project.
