The buildingSMART Award Winners 2021

London, (October 07, 2021) buildingSMART International is delighted to announce the full list of winners, finalists, and special mentions for the Awards Program 2021. All finalists presented their projects during the buildingSMART Virtual Summit and a small finalist jury (from an original Jury of 154) deliberated following the presentations to select a winner from each category. A total of 9 winners were announced at a live awards ceremony, alongside recognition of the other 12 finalists and 7 special mentions. 

 The full list of winners is as follows:  

Winner in the category of ASSET MANAGEMENT:

Winner in the category of COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION

Winner in the category of FACILITY MANAGEMENT: 

  • Siemens Switzerland – “Grosspeter Tower: Performance ​GAP Analysis with Simulation” – Switzerland. 

Winner in the category of HANDOVER: 

  • Auckland Airport Ltd – “Foodstuffs North Island ​Headquarters & Distribution ​Centre at Auckland Airport​​” – New Zealand. 

Winner in the category of PROFESSIONAL RESEARCH: 

  • The University of Hong Kong – “openBIM: Opening the gate for BIM and blockchain integration (OBBi)​” – Hong Kong. 

Winner in the category of STUDENT RESEARCH: 

  • The Technical University of Munich ​– “The IfcInfraToolKit​​” – Germany. 

Winner in the category of TECHNOLOGY:
